A paper by Vice President Kenji Fukuoka has been accepted and presented at the IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference 2015 (Dec. 9-12, Cebu, Philippines).
The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) is the largest professional organization in the world, and this conference had many distinguished participants from the USA, Japan, Europe and other parts of the world. One main topic of the conference was disaster risk reduction, and the KIC paper “A Mobile Cloud-based Radiation Monitoring System for Citizens” was received with interest. Other contributions included presentations about the use of robots in disaster situations like examining the Fukushima nuclear reactor (Osaka University) or under-water sites (Stanford University), reports on the disaster relief work after the typhoon in the Philippines and many other important topics. The conference was considered a great success by all participants.
